Complaints Procedure

The Education Reform Act 2002 provides parents with the opportunity to resolve any complaints they may have and gives advice as to the successive stages to follow. A copy of our complaint procedures can be obtained from school. This document is in line with Bury Education Authority’s policies and procedures.

The complaints procedure follows a three staged route:

Informal Complaint

Most complaints can be resolved in an informal manner through meetings with the appropriate member of staff.

Formal Complaint

If issues are not resolved then a written complaint can be made to the Headteacher or Chair of Governors as appropriate.

Formal Complaint to the Governing Body Complaints Committee

Complaints not resolved at stages 1 and 2 will be referred for investigation by the Governing Bodies Complaint Committee.

Finally, if a complainant remains dissatisfied the complainant may have recourse to the Secretary of State for Education.

No changes in the information contained in preceding paragraphs are envisaged at the time of writing. The above information was correct in relation to this document at the date specified in the document, but it should not be assumed that there will be no change affecting the relevant arrangements, either before the start of, or during, the school year in question, or in relation to subsequent school years.
