We have adopted a whole school approach to promoting positive behaviour.
Our approach is based on a positive system of rewards based on a set of Good to be Green Rules. Procedures are carefully planned and are the same for all our children. The rules are based on showing respect for oneself, others and property and telling the truth:
We are kind, polite, helpful and aware of other’s feelings.
We always tell the truth.
We listen carefully to others without interrupting them.
We look after our own and other people’s belongings.
We try our best, work hard and learn from our mistakes.
We treat other people the way we would like to be treated.
There is also a clear set of consequences for making poor choices. If a child is making regular or frequent poor choices his/her parents will be invited into school to discuss the concerns and then work together to help to turn the poor behaviour around. Having the full co-operation of parents is the only way in which our systems can work effectively.
We encourage our children ‘to tell’ when they see another child making poor choices or another child is upsetting them and for obvious reasons should never hit back or retaliate; in this way matters can be dealt with quickly and appropriately.
Copies of our policy are available from school and you will receive a copy of your child’s class rules at the start of each school year.
